Thank you for taking the time to get to know us.

We would like to thank you for considering us in making adoption plans for your child.  We’re sure this must be a tough decision for you, and we would like to share a little about ourselves.

 

We are Debi and Jon, a fun loving couple who married in August 2003 and have grown closer through all the ups and downs that life has to offer.  Jon grew up on the peninsula, less than 10 minutes from our current home.  He has obtained a BS in Psychology from Old Dominion University and a MA in Counseling from Regent University. He is now working for the City of Chesapeake as a Licensed Professional Counselor.  Debi is the daughter of a U.S. Air Force Chaplain who moved often with her familly while growing up.  She is a graduate from the University of Colorado and is now an award winning real estate agent on the peninsula in Hampton Roads.  We met at church during a Sunday school class.  After a year of getting to know each other, we got engaged and were married eight months later.   We continue to fellowship at the same church that brought us together.  Jon plays guitar in both of the morning services in the praise team.  Jon is also a talented piano player.  He took lessons as a child, and is now self taught.  We enjoy time together with friends and family, and feel blessed to have their continued support.

 

Early in our relationship, we talked about adopting believing that we couldn’t have children of our own.  After trying to conceive with the help of doctors and several medical procedures, we learned that our only option of having a family to share our love would be through the adoption process.  We have opened our hearts and home to the plan that God has set before us in caring for a child.

 

For the past seven years, our lives have been filled with family, friends, faith, music, and traveling.  Both of our parents live locally and are excited about the possibility of an addition to the family.  They’ve done an excellent job raising us and have years of wisdom to support us in the changes that a boy or a girl brings to a home.  Most of our friends have newborn children of their own and are excited about the prospect of having another playmate for their children.  Jon enjoys spending evenings playing piano and guitar for Debi.  She loves having the home filled with music.  Debi loves to travel and has brought Jon along for the ride.  We’ve enjoyed weekend trips hiking, camping, visiting DC, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and other more exotic locations.  We are so excited to share these experiences with a child seeing the world through his or her eyes.

 

We can’t imagine how difficult this must be for you is making an adoption plan for your child.  It’s your love and sacrifice for your child that truly earns our respect and gratitude.  Our commitment to you is to continue the same love in caring for the little boy or girl.  We would like to comfort you in knowing that he or she will receive daily hugs, warm meals, a clean home, several visits from friends and family, and two sets of grandparents who will spoil him or her.  He or she will grow up knowing of the adoption and the sacrifice you made.  We promise to instill values of education, selfless love, hard work, and friendship in his or her life.  We believe that every child has a gift to offer the world and we’ll be there to help him or her open it.

So Happy Together

Debi’s Birthday Celebration Jon planned a surprise birthday party with a few of our close friends for Debi at our house.

Weekend Get Away Jon and Debi found a drive-in theater in a small town 3 hours from our home. We get to the movie park early with a picnic dinner. There is a large playground for the kids to play under the screen. We look forward to one day bringing our child to the movie and playground.

Disney World We went for our 3 yr anniversary. We enjoyed visiting all the characters in all the parks. We look forward to sharing this excitment with our little one.

Love the Caps We are big hockey fans! We have seen a few Capital games. We also attend local Admiral games as well.

Skiing at Massanutten Fun times on the slopes. Jon loved night skiing.

Celebrating 4th of July We are in DC. We love to going to DC a few times a year. We love to go to musicals, baseball games, hockey games, the monuments, and museums. So much to do.

7th Anniversary in Colorado Springs Debi enjoyed showing Jon around her home town of Colorado Springs. We enjoyed a picnic lunch on the boulders overlooking the city. It began to rain as we were finishing lunch. Lots of fun!

Virginia Beach 1/2 Marathon in September 2006 We ran the whole race together. We enjoy running and going to the YMCA together.

Debi’s Company Awards Banquet Debi has been an award winning REALTOR since 2003. We enjoy getting dressed up for the banquets.

Alaska Honeymoon  Jon planned the cruise through Alaska. We are walking on a glacier…Brrrr.

The Two Become One We got married at Langley Chapel on August 23, 2003.
